1st Camping Trip

We took the girls on their first camping trip last weekend. It went great & the girls had a blast making mud pies, exploring the hills & rocks, catching fish, bugs, and "chigmunks", roasting marshmallows, and staying up late giggling in the tent. The mosquitos were crazy and totally made me think of Florida. We are looking forward to our next outing, hopefully by the beach next time!

Rough road

It'a been a rough road for Riley this last month & a half. After weeks of fevers, weird symptoms, lots of doctor visits, blood draws, and peeing in a cup, she was finally admitted to the children's hospital for a bad kidney infection. They also discovered an anatomical issue in her kidney that we will look into further when she is all better. Luckily, it is nothing life threatening! She has been a trooper through the whole thing. She even got to meet the easter bunny while she was admitted! Her grandma and grandpa just happened to be in town for work while she was in the hospital, so they were lucky enough to meet the hairy, slightly creepy rabbit as well :)
Riley is finally on the road to recovery though. We are glad to have our ball of energy back! Now we can go out & enjoy the beautiful spring weather we are getting out here!

Snap Happy

I love having my iPhone with me to capture the cute everyday moments of the girls. Whether it is at the park, on the walk to school, or in the living room, it is nice having it there to take the quick snaps that make me remember the sweet, fun moments that you often forget about. Here are a few from the past few days:

Then there are the times where I bring my "real" camera out & make my poor children pose for me :) I'm sure they will talk about it in therapy years from now! Here are a few I took of Zoe the other day. These will definitely be going on my wall.

Zoe's new adventure

We were at the park last week with friend of mine & her kids when I woman approached me. She started off by saying "I usually don't approach people at the park but...." and my first thought was "What did Riley do to this woman's child while I wasn't looking?" She then went on to give me her business card & ask me about getting Zoe into modeling. She explained a little about the agency, no fees out of pocket, willing to go to LA, etc. She thanked me for my time & we went on our seperate ways. I threw the card in my bag & forgot about it. I found it later that afternoon only to see that she was the president of the company. I checked out their site & did a pretty extensive google search on them. Turns out they are a super hot agency in LA & have kids in Disney movies, Gap, Ralph Lauren, etc. While the thought of going to LA at the drop of a hat with 2 small children does not sound like too much fun, we have decided to give it a go for a while & see what happens. They needed a few colorful shots for her portfolio & card, so I took her out on Thursday to get a few new pictures. Here are the results & a look at her comp card. Wish us luck!

What a trip

We are back in CA again after a trip to Florida to visit friends & family. It was a whirlwind trip with a few ups & downs. The ups....the girls had a blast with both sets of grandparents. I know Riley wore them all out by the end of the day! We had a great time visiting with our old neighbors and their 3 boys. I took the girls down to see Riley's best friend, Marley, & her little brother. All the kids played while I got to catch up with Nicki, my best friend since 6th grade!

The downs....Zoe started off the trip with what we thought was just a runny nose. I woke up Sunday morning about 6am when I noticed she was really struggling to breathe. She was taking about 70 breaths a minute when she should really only be in the 40s. She chest was pulling in hard as well. We woke my dad up & headed out to All Children's. After about 4 hours in the ER, she wasn't showing any progress with the breathing treatments, so they admitted her. She perked up at about 3pm, but then took a pretty good dive down by 5 & was really close to being put on oxygen. She pulled back out of it by bedtime luckily then was released by early afternoon the next day. All in all, it was a nice trip. We were sad to leave, but hopefully we will see everyone again soon!

Cutest subjects ever

I have shot a lot of cute kids lately, but my heart still melts everytime I look at the pictures I have taken of my girls. I got my new camera for Christmas & I am in love. Seeing these two cuties when I look through the viewfinder makes it even better! Enjoy :)

This is such a Riley look.

One of my favorites of Zoe in a while..

Love this one of Riley..

Merry Christmas

Well Christmas came & went fast didn't it? Once Halloween hits, it seems like the holidays fly by. Riley is finally getting old enough to get into the holidays. We had our Elf on a Shelf, Buddy. He made sure she was being a good girl, or Santa might not bring the pillow pet she was hoping for. The girls loved everything they opened on Christmas. About mid-day on Christmas, Eddie decided it would be fun to drive up to Big Bear Mountain to see the snow. We booked a room, packed up, and 45 minutes later we were on our way. Riley loved the snow & couldn't wait to play in it! Gotta love San Diego. You can be at the beach, drive 2 hours north & be on the slopes!

I hope your holiday was great & have a happy new year!
